DEL. HERRING JOINS DEEP WATER HORIZON SPILL COALITION

Posted by Charniele Herring at Jun 07, 2010 11:28 AM |

Delegate Herring participated in the Deep Water Horizon Spill Coalition of the NFWL’s National Policy Committee on Energy, Natural Resources & Agriculture.

Legislators discussed a prolonged strategy to mitigate the economic impact of the Deep Horizon oil spill as  containment efforts.  The legislators also discussed a visit to the Gulf to review and meet with members of the affected communities in Louisiana.  "There is a concern that individuals are feeling abandoned by the country and states.  We need to let them know that we are there for them now and in the future to assist in any way that we can", said Delegate Herring.  "Additionally, each member of the coalition will act as a clearinghouse of possible solutions, if they receive ideas from local industry experts, state officials, or constituents regarding potentially viable solutions, they will pass them on to NFWL who will ensure they get to high- level administration officials who will make a final determination".

A trip to the Gulf area is being planned.  Delegate Herring plans on being on the trip.
